Monday, July 20 – Sunday, July 26, 2026
Step into the Middle Ages as Spøttrup Castle once again opens its gates for the Bishop’s Market throughout week 30 (Monday–Saturday 10 AM–8 PM / Sunday 10 AM–6 PM). A full week of living history, atmosphere, and experiences awaits both children and adults – and in 2026, the market will be bigger than ever before!
This year’s market is part of the celebration of Skive’s 700th anniversary as a market town, and this can be felt throughout the entire area. Here, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn more about life in Skive and its surroundings 700 years ago and up until the end of the Middle Ages. There will be more activities, more life, and even more medieval atmosphere – with crafts, stalls, entertainment, performances, and culinary experiences in the food area.
Look forward to action and drama as the castle grounds fill with knights and warriors. During the week, you can experience both a knight tournament and a grand battle – an impressive reenactment of the Battle of Sankt Jørgens Berg, where the audience gets up close to medieval combat, tactics, and strength.
Come and enjoy an unforgettable experience at Spøttrup Castle – we look forward to welcoming you!
World Championship in Medieval Combat – Thursday to Sunday
As one of the major highlights of the week, the World Championship in medieval combat takes over Spøttrup Castle from Thursday to Sunday in week 30. Here, battle-ready fighters from all over the world gather for intense matches in full armor, where it’s not just about brute strength, but also technique, endurance, and determination.
The audience can experience the unique intensity up close as armor clashes, weapons strike, and the fight for victory unfolds in front of the castle’s historic walls. The championship will be a spectacular experience – one you won’t soon forget.
